St Augustine Florida

17-18 November

After days of working our way down the “ditch”

we decided to spend a few days being tourist in St Augustine Florida, the oldest city in the country.  We arrived in St Augustine under cloudy conditions (are there any others…?) and with a strong North wind as usual.  The city has done away with most of the anchorages and forced folks to take mooring balls–fair enough as being on a stout mooring  one can feel pretty secure and you can use the marinas facilities.  Key to us was the water taxi as we were way out and taking the dinghy in at that distance and with those winds was iffy at best.

St Aug is a cute city, lots of old buildings, lots of history, some great little stores and restaurants.

It will be a stop for us again next time in May when we can have some warm weather and less wind.
