Staniel Cay

Sat 2 February

Well the weather finally broke and the sun came out–yippee skippee.  The wind was still pretty strong but we made the trip around the Majors Spot and went to Staniel Cay to see what brings so many people here.  Now due to the wind and current in front of Staniel it is about 1.5 miles to get there, not easy in the dinghy at about 5 knots with wind and splashing.  Nonetheless we made the trip.  We had lunch at Staniel Cay Yacht Club; famous as this is the place where they shot some scenes for James Bond’s Thunderball movie–more on that tomorrow when we dive the grotto.  Lunch was a Conch Burger (very good) and some beers, we made reservations for the Superbowl party for Sunday too, told it is a nice buffet dinner and lots of big TVs!  We’ll go with our new friends Robbie and Pauline–terrific people and very interesting background.

After lunch we went on a walkabout of Stainel Cay.  The airport was a bit of a trip…. and all around the airfield we found lots of interesting bits of equipment.

We finished the tour walking by the church and school and the beach; just scenic as usual.  Hope you all enjoy.

Oh and remember for my friends suffering this winter cold…. The “chilly Willy” I guess it is longer lasting?!   Good news I guess but be careful, it is crystal clear so don’t lose it.

    Hank,
You mind bringing that prop back? It will look good in my office. That shouldn’t be too difficult, right?

Done! I had Patricia remove it from the engine, drag it up to the top of the mast for me and she is currently below crafting a wind generator to run my blender and ice-maker I wish she’d wrap this up as happy hour is fast approaching.
