As Hank said, Musha Cay is owned by David Copperfield and the resort looks lovely by day and even nicer by night. Triumph pulled in behind us on our second day here and we went over for drinks at sunset. On the way back to our boat the whole island was lit up! The docks had LED colored lights in the water, the houses were lit, and the coconut palms were almost ethereal. It was such a contrast to the usual dark and quiet of uninhabited islands, lit only by the moon and the glorious stars that we have become accustomed to here in the Exumas. Supposedly, this is one of Oprah’s favorite places to stay. I can see why! There was quite a bit of activity on the island, as a large shipping vessel pulled up (a wee bit close for our tastes) to make a delivery.
The day before we saw about 6-9 planes land on Rudder, so we know something is happening…soon.
One of the things having money gives you is the luxury to commission art. David Copperfield commissioned ” The Musician” by Jason DeClaires Taylor in 2011. He is an amazing underwater sculptor. Here is the link to the site, http://www.underwatersculpture.com/pages/projects/copperfield.htm and our own photos of how the sculpture is looking today. The current was crazy, we were completely winded swimming the few feet from the dinghy to the sculpture… so it was our cardio for the day! It was not an illusion but magic in its own right.
