Blue Norther in Green Turtle….
So after a sweltering night on Sunday night we were eagerly awaiting the passage to of the cool front to help with the breeze and the temps. Alek told us that Orlando had some rain and then glorious blue skies the day before….good news for us generally (we are currently at the same latitude as West Palm Beach) as the weather here mimics Florida a day or two later. Well last night did not disappoint. About 5:00 PM the wind started to clock around to the west, then northwest and by this morning northeast with a wonderful dry and clear blue sky–heaven.
Yesterday we went for another walk on Green Turtle and the town of New Plymouth. Before our walk I snapped these photos of Cooper and Mini doing what they do best….
We took the dinghy to the local dock and trudged up the hill into town in search of some distractions.
We hit Mackintosh’s bakery for some brownie and Lemon cake. Went and got stamps at the post office for a Post Card to our friend Francine in Va (she’ll get it in about a month!!),
eyeballed the grocery store to see about last minute needs. I had to go to another grocery store for my Ice Cream Drumstick fix.
On our way out of town we were looking at the bay and ended up near the cemetery. Here are some snaps of the cemetery. One thing we noticed is that there is a myriad of levels of service when you expire here in Paradise.
The town is a real pleasure to see under the clear cool conditions. We went back this morning to get some more milk, eggs, dairy, and vegetables. Another walk in town and short visit.
Green Turtle is a favorite stop for our friend Susan from Nova Scotia, it is pretty clear why. The folks are friendly, lots to see, great place to stay. We are planning our return trip now, about 7 more stops before we cross back to Florida so the Bahamas are nearly complete. Don’t know what the wee-fee will be like up in the northern reaches of the Abacos but we’ll try and stay in touch.
