Once we “hit the beach” we needed to do some grocery shopping and get some lunch. We figured that we should eat first because going into the Publix on an empty stomach and being in a full blown SUPER market we’d end up with more food than we could ever carry.
We got the skinny on restaurants from the parking lot security guard (in a golf cart) and the parking lot maintenance guy (in a golf cart), we figured we had been getting information from folks in golf carts for 5 months now so this seemed like a good place to start. They recommended Bonefish Grill (not open for lunch) and Duffy’s sports bar. We went with the latter.
Now Duffy’s had air conditioning which felt fabulous in the Florida heat. They also had glasses of water with ice!!! That actually tasted great. The menu had no crack’d conch but it had great ahi tuna for a salad that would please Patricia immensely.
I had to get a hamburger–standard.
The burger was cooked like I like it (rare thanks to the waitress for talking to the cook), bacon, avocado and the fixin’s!! Now all this wonderful-ness comes with first world problems of course.
If you look closely you can see clearly that in spite of my efforts that the bun is not up to the size of the patty. You see, I am running out of bread and may need to resort to using a knife and fork. Patricia suggested I get a bowl and just mix the whole thing up like the salsa cereal….good idea.
We left Duffy’s and went to Publix and of course were so stuffed that we ended up buying the bare minimum; best supermarket in 6 months and we leave with the usual dairy and veg!
As we were leaving the Bahamas we knew our courtesy flag was on its last threads and I had to try and give it some extra life with sail-tape. You can see the yellow has faded to white from the example below.
Our US flag was little better and was quite tattered.
Our new Texas flag is having to carry the load until we get a new US flag.
We got back to the boat to find the cats up to their usual hi-jinx
