On the road again….no really, the road

So after a week of bliss on the hard working in the boat yard it was time to pile in the car and get some rest and relaxation.  What that means to us was load the truck with all the chores that STILL needed doing and try and get them done down in South West Florida at my mom’s house.  We left on Wednesday morning and had a nice drive across central Florida.

Now Wednesday morning was all about trying to remember what we still needed to do, what we would need in Naples, what the cats needed etc.  We also had to button up the boat for inclement weather (TS Andrea was working her way into Florida).

Now the cats love car travel as much as boat travel I’m told.  We try and create a nice environment for them.   We get the back of the truck nice and flat, spread a blanket, make them cozy areas to curl up in and sleep etc.  We get the AC going to it is nice and cool too.

Here’s Mini’s take on car travel.

Oh....this is sooooo much better....NOT!!

Oh….this is sooooo much better….NOT!!

I think Cooper likes it too!!

This is the best....can we do it again soon? This blanket feels sooooo good

Mini still gets a bit freaked about underpasses just like she does going under bridges on the ICW.

What's that noise? What that a shadow?

What’s that noise? What that a shadow?

Cooper likes to sniff the Air conditioning for reasons unknown?  Maybe he smells mold from 2006?  He’ll come sniff the vents about once an hour.  To do this properly he must get in my lap and use my thigh as a pin-cushion.

OOOOhhhh OOOOhhhh that smell....

OOOOhhhh OOOOhhhh that smell….

Now after about 3-4 trips around the inside of the car, finding one window switch to step on and scare the shit out of everyone they will eventually settle down.  This is the usual cat behavior of sleeping and grooming.

"Oh wow did you see that?" "See what?"

“Oh wow did you see that?” “See what?”

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz

Are we there YET?

Are we there YET?

Now getting “there” is a good deal.  My mom has a great house with AC for us, nice long showers with plenty of water, toilets you just flush once and don’t have to pump, and a huge refrigerator.  After a long day in the car we were rewarded with her world class Cosmopolitan and some great Hummus snacks.  Now we may look a bit out of focus but note we haven’t even touched the drinks.  This is my Mom’s 4th attempt at the photo–to say she does not have the  “technology gene” is a huge understatement.  “just press it and hold” doesn’t seem to work for her.

Awesome Happy Hour...again

Here’s a snap of the bartender getting her mixology on!

"hmmmm...just a bit more lime I think..."

HAHA..great pix of the cats…the only thing missing was a steady stream of drool from their little mouths as a sign of complete contentment…..enjoy the land life …any sign of sea legs?

    • Beth, no sea legs….us or the cats. Not sure why, we used to get that from a short 3 day trip on our first boat. Maybe we just hang out in smooth areas? Truth is we get off the boat nearly everyday so that may be why.
