OK, we’ve been a bit absent the last few days. We’ve been busy, sort of. Well at least busy for cruisers.
The last time we posted we were in route to Raleigh to see friends, family and pick up our son before he heads back for another year of college. As you can imagine all those things can fill your days and spending time in front of a laptop tapping away at a keyboard is a bit solitary rather than social.
So the trip to Chapel Hill got off to a quirky start with trying to get to the rental place, getting Anna P. hooked up with us for a quick hello (hope her mother is fine in Greece), detouring to SJAFB and then being denied as my ID was terminated as I retired last December (officially) and now needed a retiree ID. All these things made us later and later to Chapel Hill.
Let’s get the cat photos out of the way. Here’s Cooper getting settled on Spencer’s bed (Spencer who was kind enough to share his bed and take the couch in the next room) and here’s Mini sneaking into my bag when for whatever reason getting her into her cat carrier (arguably the same sort of bag) requires a team of three and a good set of welder’s leather gloves to the elbow for protection!!
Nonetheless upon arrival at Troy and Lisa’s house we were greeted with the usual warm reception and cool drinks!! As usual our day was ending with a happy hour(s)–plural in this case. We spent the weekend getting connected with old old old friends. Not that we’re old but that in this case we’ve known each other for over half of our lives; +25 years.
As luck would have it this impromptu reunion was due to two families dropping off kids at UNC so we had folks coming in from the UK and Washington state–that’s a lot of time zones. Sadly Tuna was in an airline hostage crisis in NYC as they kept breaking airplanes and blaming it on the weather so as NOT to help the passengers. We saw Tuna the next day.
It wasn’t just work, also some time relaxing by the pool
We spent a wonderful 3 days with our friends and at the best B&B in Chapel Hill courtesy of our friends. After our weekend with our friends it was off to my sister’s to await the arrival our #2 son and let our friends get back to their every day lives. Thanks for a wonderful weekend.
